early childhood music
Music is important for young children, not only for their musical development but also their social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development. All of these areas of human development are intertwined and music is a wonderful way to facilitate growth in each of these areas. Early Childhood Music Classes are designed to create a rich music environment for children to interact with in whatever way they feel most comfortable. It is also such fun to share in singing, dancing, moving and music making and is a great thing to do with your little ones. Some children will be active participants, while others will prefer to watch and absorb. Through the use of action songs, music and movement, children gain an understanding of beat, rhythm, pitch, tone colour and dynamics. A variety of tuned and untuned percussion instruments provide further stimulus to children’s coordination skills and musical awareness. The goal isn’t necessarily to produce musicians, rather to assist your child in the overall learning process and appreciation of what the world has to offer. The child will gain many skills and may be motivated to learn a musical instrument which in turn will further enhance their learning process. By developing solid foundations of musical activities, children learn a lifelong love of music. Classes are limited to 10 participants and bookings are per term. Advance booking is recommended to ensure a place for your child. Currently, Early Childhood Music Classes are timetabled as follows: ECM 1: Tuesday 9.30-10.10am. This class caters for children aged 2 years. ECM 2: Tuesdays 10.30-11.10am. This class caters for children ages 3-5 years and is the same as the ECM 3 class scheduled for Wednesdays, thus offering a choice of time for the class. ECM 3: Wednesdays 10.00-10.40am. This class caters for children aged 3-5 years and is the same as the ECM 2 class scheduled on Tuesdays, thus offering a choice of time for the class.
